Reminds me of a quote by...somebody....He said that churches can grow to be a mile high (figuratively) but only 1" deep.

Blogs can be like that too.

And books. How often do we come across a 5" thick book that you just know has about 1/2" of real story to it!

Craver, it's no pic, but I may post some from the play in a few weeks. You were the duke, too? That's the same role I'm playing! We really are long lost brothers.

Mary, people actually say they'd be wasting their words? Are we so enmeshed in our capitalistic culture that the only value we see is through dollar signs? I love capitalism, don't get me wrong. But surely there are other ways to assign value.

I was just talking about this with our CFO. He kindly asked about the progress on my last novel. (It's dead.) But I have another one percolating in my head right now. A better one, really. The only problem is how much time the surgery takes to remove the book.

Can I justify that time right now? What is my goal? Why write a book at all? If my goal is simply to use words to encourage and challenge others... well, I don't need to publish a book to do that. I can continue to give myself away (not waste myself!) right here on the blog.

Still that book is starting to become an itch. The reason I'll probably write it is simple: I have to scratch.

I have often heard criticism about bloggers or blogging from the writing community. "It sucks too much time," some say. Or "I'd be wasting my words."

P'shaw! Blogging is an artform in itself, for this culture. Doing it well is a ministry. Keep at it, all you venerable bloggers!
